Our perspective

The physical world
is being rebuilt.

Humanity’s future depends on the health of people and the planet. Halo exists to build and back the essential companies that improve both.

Intelligence needs a physical foundation

As AI makes intelligence cheaper and more widely available, demand grows for everything it runs on. Computing needs electricity, cooling water and a grid connection. Robots need motors and batteries. Autonomous vehicles need fleets that someone has to finance and maintain.

AI, robotics, modern biology and advanced engineering are being applied to the systems daily life depends on: how energy is generated and stored, how water is treated, how goods move and how disease is caught. Companies that expand the capacity of those systems will hold important positions in the economy that follows.

Protecting the planet is an economic opportunity

Growing demand for energy, water and healthcare coincides with advances that are changing what can be built and where. Cleaner power, better storage, decentralised water treatment and earlier diagnosis can improve lives while lowering the cost of meeting essential needs.

We believe companies that solve these problems can serve enormous markets. But a growing market alone does not make a good investment. Falling prices pass much of the benefit to customers. We look closely at who retains value: through cost advantages, distinctive technology, distribution or ownership of the assets delivering a service.

Five connected systems

Halo focuses on health, energy, water, mobility and physical AI, and ocean and natural systems. Energy connects them. Cheaper, dependable clean power changes the cost of producing water, running computing infrastructure and operating intelligent machines.

AI and advanced science work across these areas, from improving grid management to accelerating drug development. Many important opportunities will emerge where the systems meet.

Build + Back

Where an exceptional company already exists, we back it through Halo Capital alongside long-term partners. Where the technology or opportunity exists but the company or route to market does not, we build it, from the ground up or with founders.

Physical businesses need capital structured around their assets and cash flows, as well as operators who know how to deploy them. Our team combines institutional investing, asset-backed finance and experience running industrial and power businesses.

Robots and autonomous fleets also create opportunities beyond the technology itself. They must be owned, financed and maintained. We see a role for businesses that can perform those functions, much as leasing and fleet finance developed alongside aircraft and vehicles.

Connecting technology, capital and markets

Our work spans the United States, Europe and Africa, informed by long experience of Asia’s manufacturing base. Manufacturing, capital and demand frequently sit in different places. Connecting them is central to how Halo creates value.

In markets with limited existing infrastructure, distributed energy and water systems can offer a practical route to meeting demand. Technology proven in one region can address a larger unmet need in another.

What we look for

We look for exceptional technology applied to important problems in large markets, led by founders with real depth. We are particularly interested where a change in cost or capability has made a business viable for the first time, and where our financing, operating experience or relationships can help it grow.

We then ask whether the world would be better if the company succeeded at enormous scale. Where it would, and the economics are compelling, the company belongs in Halo’s universe.
